19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, took control to create a third set.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
