'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles following the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful shot from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory capped an extraordinary turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a supporter shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a next round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right defensive wing after the team changed tactics. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they know how to control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and attention just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly achieved similar status in Wales. At Orient he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without serious challenge. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that development for both domestically and internationally, shining for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the last several matches, including both legs encounters against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

It has been a remarkable path for the player from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his dad, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's sole appearance for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they played on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on public transport after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
